How can I convert a cassette tapes to digital (MP3)?

Question by georgia_peach: How can I convert a cassette tapes to digital (MP3)?
I do transcription work and have a Panasonic machine. Any ideas on how I can change my cassette tapes to digital? The digital is so much easier and I don’t have to worry about the machine breaking down. I’m willing to spend the bucks, just don’t know what’s available.

there is a take converter that slides in like a cassette that has a cord that plugs into your mp3, they sell them at Walmart and Radio Shack for under $ 10.00 and work very well
sure … try a sound recording software, any such software worth it’s salt should have a setting to record sound/voice/music from the ‘Line In’ source. So, what you basically do is plug the output of your panasonic casette payer to the ‘line-in’ jack on your computer and then use the software to record this.
For starters, there’s the Windows Sound Recorder:
click ‘start’ > ‘run’ > type ‘sndrec32′ and hit ‘enter’
you can also try this one if you have a free 5.25” bay on your computer, this would make your life really easy! =>
