Can a voice recorder be used to secretly record what people are saying at a meeting?

(I will be sitting in the meeting.)
And is there any way that the voice recorder can be detected?

Yes… And yes… Be careful, young Luke… It helps to sit near the speakers if they use a mic or near the speaker if they don’t… Also, try not to pull it out and ask for a soundcheck…
Baggy clothing is best or in a suit jacket pocket… Spies, when revealed as such, are generally not well treated…
Depends where you live, but generally yes, and yes.
Depends on what type of meeting it is. If its buisness like work i dont see why not but if it is like court type meeting then no. Like i said it depends on what type of meeting it is.
The reason you have to record secretly, means that you are doing something that the others would object to. That means that what you are doing is ethically wrong – So no! you should not record – you will regret your actions if you do.
Edit – 1 day later,,,,,,,,, Technically yes it is possible and I stand by what I said above.
