Can I plug a Zoom H4 recorder into my computer if I don’t have the software?


I am borrowing my schools Zoom H4 recorder … I want to edit the audio on my personal computer though. If I plug the Zoom into my computer without having the software installed first … will it mess it up?

Courtney – The Zoom H4 does have three ways to get the recorded audio to your computer. You can connect the regular headphone output to the line input on your computer with a standard male headphone to male headphone cable.

You can connect it to your computer via the USB connection – your computer should recognize the interface right away. You can download the audio files that way.
You can also use a SD card reader (they are available everywhere). Just remove the SD card from the recorder and insert it into your SD card reader and download the files that way.
