There is a block on copying copyrighted material. What good is it to have a DVD recorder if you can’t copy any decent shows? What are people using to copy TV, HBO, Showtime, etc. for personal use.

Since TV channels are very cautious about their content being stolen, Sony DVD recorders can’t copy them. Some people copy them for personal use, others steal them and publish them on the internet. They can’t take any risks.
